Abstract:
To enhance a gain of a patch antenna while ensuring sufficient mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A patch antenna comprises a ground conductor 31 provided on a surface 10a of a first dielectric layer 10, a second dielectric layer 20 provided on the first dielectric layer 10 via the ground conductor 31, and a patch conductor 32 provided on a surface 20a of the second dielectric layer 20 so as to face the ground conductor 31 via the second dielectric layer 20. A portion 21 of the second dielectric layer 20 overlapping with the patch conductor 32 is surrounded by an air layer located above the ground conductor 31. Since effective dielectric constant between the patch conductor 32 and the ground conductor 31 decreases, a gain increases. Furthermore, since the ground conductor 31 is formed on the surface 10a of the first dielectric layer 10, mechanical strength can be secured sufficiently even if a portion 22 of the second dielectric layer 20 not overlapping with the patch conductor 32 is made thin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
