PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain pattered paper in which brown or black fiber and spotted pattern are uniformly dispersed by blending a pulp obtained by digesting whole stem and corollary part of bulrush reed grass without fractionating with an ordinary pulp.
SOLUTION: Whole stem and corollary part of bulrush reed grass are together charged to a digesting process and subjected to digesting treatment at 110-180°C, preferably 130-170°C under conditions in which sulfidity is 5-10wt.%, preferably 10-40wt.% and effective alkali addition ratio is 5-40wt.%, preferably 10-30wt.% as Na2O, based on absolute dry weight of bulrush reed grass in kraft method and sodium sulfite addition ratio is 5-40wt.%, preferably 20-30wt.% and caustic soda addition ratio is 1-20wt.%, preferably 2-10wt.% based on absolute dry weight of bulrush reed grass in alkaline sodium sulfite method to provide pulp and the pulp is blended with an ordinary pulp so as to contain at least 10wt.% of the above pulp to produce the objective pattered paper.
