Title:
PEARLESCENT PIGMENT AND SYNTHETIC RESIN COMPOSITION MIXED WITH THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3171085
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pearlescent pigment excellent in brilliance, capable of providing a molding showing a good decorative appearance.
SOLUTION: This pearlescent pigment is obtained by providing a powdery material having a smooth broken surface prepared by grinding glass or quartz sand with a metal oxide coating film and has 30-500μm average particle diameter. This pearlescent pigment is obtained by providing flaky powder having ≤0.05μm unevenness on the surface with a metal oxide coating film having 20-250nm thickness and has 1/9 to 1 average shape ratio and 25-500μm average particle diameter. A synthetic resin in amount of 100 pts.wt. is mixed with 0.1-20 pts.wt. of the pigment to give the objective synthetic resin composition. Since the broken face of the powdery material prepared by grinding glass or quartz sand is smooth, the broken face coated with the metal oxide exhibits an iridescent luster in a view of a wide angle. Brilliance and deepness of interference color are raised by coating a smooth flaky powder small in difference in level of unevenness on the surface with the metal oxide. Since the pigment is hardly damaged by shear force during blending with a synthetic resin and molding, defective molding will not occur.
