Title:
PEDAL CRANK MECHANISM FOR BICYCLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3679092
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce load applied to legs alternately when the pedals are stepped, to use the muscle of the entire legs in a well balanced manner, and to return the pedals to the stepping start position spontaneously without forming an uncomfortable bending condition of the legs in the track of the pedal return.
SOLUTION: This crank mechanism for a bicycle includes a main crank 9, a sub crank 12 and a connecting lever 15 between free ends of the crank 9 and the sub crank 12, and a second fixed fulcrum shaft 11 of the sub crank 12 is placed obliquently posteriorly over a first fixed fulcrum shaft 8 of the main crank 9, the sub crank 12 is extended from the second fixed fulcrum shaft 11 to the downside of a line L2 connecting the first and second fulcrum shafts 8 and 11, and the second free fulcrum shaft 11 of the free end vibrates at the downside of the line L2 connecting the first and second fixed fulcrum shafts 8 and 11, and a pedal 16 is mounted on a projected end 17 near the first free fulcrum shaft 13 of the lever 15 and placed near the free end of the main crank 9, which rotates with a noncircular locus passing between the second fixed fulcrum shafts 8 and 11 where the shaft 8 is located within the inner area of the locus T.
