To clearly observe a melting condition in the inside of a melting object by removing influence of reflection light caused by reflection of flame supplied into the inside of the melting furnace on a liquid level of the melting object.
This peeping member 1 used to observe the inside of the glass melting furnace 2 storing melted glass 4 melted by flame 3 is provided with two polarization plates 6a, 6b turnable in the direction along a face and is attached to an inspection window 5 formed on a furnace wall of the glass melting furnace 2 or is incorporated into glasses, the face or goggle that a worker wears. In this way, reflection light of flame reflected on the liquid level of the melting object by the polarization plate is selectively shut off and the melting condition of the melting object stored in the inside of the melting furnace can be easily and clearly observed.
