PURPOSE: To improve the strength and to improve the integrating characteristic of a lead body and a shaft by providing an organic baked lead body with a Young's modulus of more than a specific value.

CONSTITUTION: In a pencil comprising a shaft and an organic baked lead body of more than 1.8 mm diameter, inserted into the shaft, Young's modulus of the organic baked lead body is variable corresponding to the manufacturing conditions such as a blending ratio of the materials and an extruding speed in the extrusion molding. So that the organic baked lead body of more than 1.3×1011 dyne/cm2 of Young's modulus can be obtained by properly setting these conditions. Whereby not only the bending strength but also the integrating characteristic of the lead body and the shaft can be improved, and further these performances can be confirmed on the basis of the Young's modulus which can be easily measured.
