Abstract:

To provide a new pendant amine group-containing polyether polyol which has an ability to scatter functional groups in the whole body of the polyether molecule during an alkoxylation reaction imperfectly or perfectly without producing one or more by-products and without causing the decomposition of the functional groups, and to provide a method for producing the same.

This polyether polyol having a mol. wt. of about 105 to about 35,000 and containing at least one terminal hydroxy group and at least one pendant amine group. The method for producing the polyether polyol comprises reacting a compound containing one to ten hydroxy groups and having a mol. wt. of about 32 to about 15,000 with at least one epoxide compound containing one or more halogen atoms in the presence of one or more complex metal cyanide catalysts to form the polyether polyol of halogenated carbon atom-containing intermediate and then reacting the polyether polyol of intermediate with an amine group-containing compound containing one to three primary, secondary and/or tertiary amine groups.
