Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is H, lower alkanoyl or lower alkoxycarbonyl; R2 is lower alkyl substituted with 1-3 F atoms; R3 is (substituted) cycloalkylcarbonyloxyalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl-carbonyloxyalkyl, etc.].
EXAMPLE: (5R,6S)-2-(fluoroethylthio)-6-[(1R)-1-hydroxyethyl]penem-3-carboxylic acid 1-(cyclohexyloxycarbonyloxy)ethyl ester of formula III.
USE: An antibacterial agent for oral administration.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula III is made to react with a compound of formula R3X (X is halogen) in the presence of a base (e.g. triethylamine or sodium bicarbonate) in a solvent (e.g. DMF).
