NEW MATERIAL: Compd. expressed by formula I, wherein X is H, a amino acid or oligopeptide residue produced by removing OH in the terminal carboxyl groups of the amino acid or oligopeptide; Y, Z are OH which may be protected, or amino acid or oligopeptide residues produced by removing H in the terminal amino groups from the amino acid or oligopeptide, and the amino acid or oligopeptide residue of Y and Z may be protected by same or different protecting groups on the terminal carboxyl groups; however, such a case that X is H and both of Y and Z are OH groups which may be protected is not allowed.
EXAMPLE: L-Aranyl-β-chloro-L-(Z)-dehydroglutamic acid.
USE: Antimicrobial agent.
PROCESS: For example, the compd. expressed by formula I is obtd. by the reaction shown in the reaction formula.
