Abstract:
To provide a functional peptide having excellent antioxidant activity, the peptide having remarkably superior antioxidant activity compared to conventional GSH while having excellent biocompatibility.SOLUTION: There is provided an antioxidant composition containing any one or more peptides selected from the amino acid sequences represented by general formulas 1 and 2: [General formula 1] γ-Glu-Xaa1; and [General formula 2] γ-Glu-Xaa2-Xaa3. The peptide may be any one or more selected from the group consisting of γ-GLU-CYS(S-Me)(O2), γ-GLU-HIS, γ-GLU-ILE, γ-GLU-GLN-GLU, γ-GLU-THR-GLY, and γ-GLU-VAL-CYS.EFFECT: The peptide of the present invention can effectively restore damage to biological tissues and cells caused by active oxygen induced by oxidative stress, or promote antioxidant activity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
