To obtain the subject preparation exhibiting sufficient anesthetic effect in a relatively short time through merely its application to the skin, by formulating a specific percutaneous absorption promoter in a rubber-based tack agent as a base for the preparation.
This percutaneously absorbable preparation for local anesthesia is obtained by formulating N-methyl 2-pyrrolidone as a percutaneous absorption promoter in a local anesthetic-contg. rubber-based tack agent composition layer on a substrate; wherein it is preferable that the rubber-based tackagent composition layer is also formulated with a compound selected from aliphatic alcohols each bearing 6-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group and polyoxyethylene aliphatic ethers in addition to the N-methyl 2-pyrrolidone. The local anesthetic to be used is e.g. cocaine, procaine, chloroprocaine.
