To provide a permanent magnet and a method for manufacturing the same, capable of improving the efficiency of operations in a manufacturing step and performing orientation at minute torque in a molding step.
A slurry 42 is prepared by adding, to fine particles of a pulverized neodymium magnet, an organic solvent containing an organic metal compound represented by M-(OR)x (wherein M is V, Mo, Zr, Ta, Ti, W or Nb, R is any one from among 2-6C alkyl groups and may be a straight chain or a branched chain, and x is an arbitrary integer), and after that, a magnetic field is applied to the slurry 42 injected into a cavity 54 by a molding machine 50, and a pressure is applied to the slurry 42 in this state, and then, the organic solvent is evaporated, thereby obtaining a molded product. Subsequently, the molded product is subjected to temporary baking processing in hydrogen and baked at 800-1,180°C, thereby a permanent magnet is manufactured.
