PURPOSE: To acquire a permanent magnet which has good magnetic characteristic and corrosion resistance and whose performance is stable by forming the permanent magnet with a permanent magnet material which has specified composition and whose value acquired by dividing v (secondary phase/primary phase), that is a volume ratio of primary phase and secondary phase when the primary phase and amorphous and/or crystal R-poor secondary phase are provided, by a specific equation is not more than 2.
CONSTITUTION: A permanent magnet material is provided with a composition of RxT100-x-y-zByMz (where R is one or more kinds of rare earth elements including Y, T is Fe or Fe and Cr, 5.5≤x<11.76, 2≤y<15, z≤10, and M is at least one or more kinds of Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta and W). A permanent magnet is composed of the permanent magnet material which has substantially only a primary phase of a crystal structure of tetragonal system or has such a primary phase and amorphous and/or crystal R-poor secondary phase and whose value acquired by dividing a value v (secondary phase/primary phase), that is a volume ratio of primary phase and secondary phase, by (11.76-x)/x is not more than 2. Thereby, a permanent magnet having good magnetic characteristic and corrosion resistance can be acquired.
