Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the medium noises of a perpendicular magnetic recording medium by a CoCr alloy thin-film by forming the non-magnetic layer of a Cr thin-film onto a CoCrNi alloy thin-film and further forming a CoCr layer onto the non-magnetic layer.

CONSTITUTION: A perpendicular recording layer composed of a CoCrNi alloy thin-film 2 formed as a foundation layer, the non-magnetic layer 3 of a Cr thin-film formed onto the CoCrNi alloy thin-film 2 as an intermediate layer and a CoCr alloy thin-film 3 shaped onto the non-magnetic layer 3 is formed onto a high molecular film 1, and 100≤d≤300 [angstroms] holds in the film thickness (d) of the intermediate layer. Accordingly, a magnetic domain is diminished in the CoCr alloy thin-film, and medium noises can be reduced.
