PURPOSE: To dispense with a safety fence in the edge of beautiful-shape newel parts by extending one of a pair of beautiful-shape newel parts in a handrail extended to an entrance till reaching to a floor.

CONSTITUTION: Respective handrails 16, 17; 18, 19 arranged in both sides of respective steps 7, 12 in two escalators 1, 11 installed parallel to each other toward a next floor 3 and movably attached to balustrades so that the passenger gets onto a tread safely. The respective handrails 16, 17; 18, 19 have respective newel parts 16a, 17; 18a, 19a extended to respective exits 21, 22. The respective escalators 1, 11 are installed diagonally to the floor 3. This constitution forms a space between the respective newel parts 16a, 17a, 18a and the end 3a of the floor 3. The respective newel parts 16a, 17a, 18a are thus extended long to reach the end 3a so as to eliminate any space from being formed therebetween.
