To provide a personal authenticating method by which both the requests of the person himself acceptance and another person refusal are satisfied and authentication is performed while following the real environment of use.
The authenticated result is plural kinds of body features is stored in a table and an evaluation function expressing the reliability of each of body features is calculated by using the information of a preset security level for personal authentication and information in the table. Thus, the body feature most suitable for authentication is selected out of plural kinds of the body features, the input of the body feature is requested to a user, the body feature provided from the user and the body feature of a previously registered specified individual are collated and discriminated and when the specified individual is discriminated, authenticating processing is finished and when the specified individual is not discriminated, the authentication is performed by the evaluation function while using the body feature presented as the next candidate. Such a stepwise selection is repeated until using all plural kinds of body features.
