To perform personal authentication by extracting a feature parameter related to blinking on the basis of an eye blink extremely difficult to copy among dynamic biometric information.
According to video information comprising a plurality of frame images produced as a camera 10 images a blinking face of a person to be authenticated at a predetermined frame rate, an iris area image is extracted from each frame image. According to the extracted iris area images, the number of frames is normalized to a first number of eye closing image frames and a second number of eye opening image frames. Similarity is computed between the input images comprising the normalized frame number of iris area images and precomposed template images of the blink of the person to be authenticated. Collation based on the similarity determines whether or not the person to be authenticated is an authorized user.
