To provide a personal computer which allows the easy regulation of a flat panel display unit, such as a liquid crystal panel or plasma display, to an arbitrary height position by simple operation and is accordingly capable of providing an always adequate manipulation environment.

When a user regulates the height position of the flat panel display unit 2 to an upward direction, the user presses and operates a knob of a stopper (detaining pawl) 35, by which the engagement of the stopper (detaining pawl) 35 with a latch 34 is released. A lifting cylinder 33 is energized by an energizing spring 32 and is moved in an upward direction by the release of the engagement, by which a movable strut 4 integrally coupled to the lifting cylinder 33 and the flat panel display unit 2 supported at the movable strut 4 are moved in an upward direction.
