Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a pharmaceutical compsn. containing 2-phenyl-3- alloylbenzothiophene compd. as an effective component which is effective to decrease the LDL concn. in serum without a side effect accompanied by treatments with estrogen.
CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical compsn. as a drug to decrease cholesterol in serum contains a 2-phenyl-3-alloylbenzothiophene compd. expressed by formula, or its pharmaceutically allowed salt or salvation as the active component. In the formula, (n) is 0 to 2, R is hydroxy, methoxy, 1 to 7C alkanoyloxy, 3 to 7C cycloalkanoyloxy, (1 to 6C alkoxy)-1 to 7C alkanoyloxy, (substd.)alloyloxy, or (substd.)aryloxycarbonyloxy, R1 is H, halogen or same as R, R2 is pyrolidiono, piperidino, or hexamethyleneimino. As for the compd. expressed by formula, especially raloxifene and raloxifene hydrochloride are preferable. The compsn. is especially effective for a woman having an estrogen deficiency disease.
