Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a controlled release pharmaceutical composition in an oral unit administration form by filling a capsule with active spherical granules comprising an active carbonic anhydrase-inhibiting factor medicine, a diluent for forming a matrix in which the medicine is dispersed, and arbitrarily a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: This controlled release pharmaceutical composition comprises an active carbonic anhydrase-inhibiting factor medicine (e.g. methazolamide), a diluent solid at the ordinary temperature and suitable for forming medicine- dispersed matrix, preferably fine crystalline cellulose, and, if necessary, a pharmaceutically acceptable vehicle. The components are mixed by a mixer. The mixture is granulated in the presence of a granulating liquid, and the granules are extruded and subsequently sphered to form the spherical granules capable of being compressed. The spherical granules are dried, filled into a capsule having a hard or soft outer shell in the therapeutically effective number. If necessary, the capsule is sealed.
