Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a series of assaying methods useful to evaluate the effectiveness of a substance inhibiting the neuro-toxicity action of a beta-amyloid peptide.
CONSTITUTION: These assaying methods mainly use a beta-amyloid peptide as a beta-sheet conformation. Furthermore, the methods cover the use of antibodies having specificity for the beta-amyloid peptide as the beta sheet conformation, and pharmaceutical preparations containing the antibodies. These antibodies show only slight reaction with the beta-amyloid peptide having many random coil or alpha-helix secondary structures.
