NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (A is formyl or protected formyl; n is 0W2).
EXAMPLE: N-[3-(3-Formylphenoxy)propyl]-2-(furfurylsulfinyl)acetamide.
USE: A medicine. An intermediate for producing a compound expressed by formula II, etc., having histamine H2 acceptor antagonism action and useful as an anti- peptic ulcer agent.
PREPARATION: A phenoxypropylamine derivative expressed by formula II is reacted with a furfurylthioester expressed by formula III (R1 is p-nitrophenyl, 2,4-dinitrophenyl or o-nitrophenyl) in a solvent such as methylene chloride at 0W50°C to provide a compound expressed by formula I (A is protected formyl), which is then deprotected in a solvent such as acetone in the presence of an acid such as hydrogen chloride at 0W100°C to provide the compound expressed by formula I (A is formyl).
