Abstract:

To obtain phosphonylated derivative which is prepared to suit a use in a specific technological area, by randomly and covalently attaching a phosphorus-containing group to an aliphatic chain or a carbon atom in a side group of an organic soluble polymer such as polyalkylene oxides, polyamides, polyesters, acryltate polymers.

Various phosphonylated hetero chain polymers, most preferably a phosphonylated methyl polymethacrylated, are provided. In each polymer composition, a phosphorus atom present in a phosphorus-containing functional group is covalently linked to a carbon atom in the polymer chain. This phosphorus atom is present in an amount of at least about 0.1 wt.% per each polymer composition.
