PURPOSE: To enhance the bluish green lumious efficiency of a Eu (II'-activated alkaline earth metals borophosphate phosphor by replacing part of the alkaline earth metals with specific metals such as Be and Mg.
CONSTITUTION: Part of the alkaline earth metals of a Eu (II'-activated alkaline earth metals borophophate phosphor is replaced with one or more of Be, Mg, Zn, Cd, and Mn to provide a phosphor of a chemical compsn. represented by the formula, wherein Me is one or more kinds of the above elements, 0≤x≤0.5, 0≤y≤0.2, 0≤z≤0.05, pref. z=about 0.005W0.03, 0.001≤p≤0.15, esp. 0.005≤p≤0.05, 1.75≤m≤2.30and 0.05≤n≤0.23. This product is excited with cathode rays besides ultraviolet rays of short or long wavelength and blue visible radiation to emit bluish green luminescence of a max. luminous wavelength of 480W 490 nm, and it is suitable for a mercury vapor discharge lamp, a cathode-ray tube, etc.
