PURPOSE: To obtain the titled material composed of a radically polymerizable monomer and a photo-polymerization initiator and having improved photo- polymerizability, storage stability, color tone, etc., by using an α-ketocarbonyl compound (a photo-sensitizer) in combination with a substituted aromatic amine (a reducing agent) as the photo-polymerization initiators.
CONSTITUTION: The objective photo-polymerizable dental material is composed of (A) a radically polymerizable monomer and (B) a photo-polymerization initiator comprising (a) an α-ketocarbonyl compound as a photo-sensitizer and (b) a reducing agent selected from the compound of formula [R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or cyanoalkyl; R3 is (CH2)n (which may be substituted with alkyl; n is 1W6) or CH=CH(CH2)n (n is 1W4)] as a reducing agent. The photo- polymerization of the dental material sufficiently proceeds by the photo- irradiation for a short period even at a low-temperature region near room temperature and the material has excellent storage stability, color tone, etc. Accordingly, the present photo-polymerizable dental material is useful as a dental composite resin or hard resin for tooth.
