PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high density recording reproduction to be done in use of a laser beam of a specific wavelength by containing a dipyrromethene metallic chelate compound shown by the specified formula in a recording layer.
SOLUTION: In DVD-R being a photo-recording medium capable of being reproduced by DVD as a large capacity photo-recording medium, a dipyrromethene metallic chelate compound shown by the formula is contained in the recording medium in the photo-recording medium having at least a recording layer and reflection layer on a base plate that can be recorded and reproduced by a short wave laser of a wavelength of 520-690 nm. In the formula, R1 shows a substituted or nonsubstituted aryl group or heteroaryl group having 20C or less, and R2-R8 each show a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a substituted or nonsubstituted alkyl group, an alkoxyl group, alkenyl group, acyl group, or the like having 20C or less, and R9 shows a substituted or nonsubstituted aryl group having 20C or less alcoxycarbonyl group, or aralkyl group of 20C or less, and M shows cobalt or copper.
