Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a pigment assuming prussian blue by suspending fine particles of mica, etc., having a semiconductor layer on the surface in a plating soln. contg. cyanoferrate and by irradiating the resulting suspension with light to deposit a cyano-iron-complex on the surfaces of the fine particles.

CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. contg. 0.01-0.1mol/l FeCl3 as a source for tervalent Fe ions is prepd. as a plating soln. and 0.01-0.1mol/l K4[Fe(CN)6] as a source for cyano-transition metal complex ions is added to the plating soln. Fine particles of mica, etc., having a TiO2-based semiconductor layer on the surface are suspended in the plating soln. and the resulting suspension is irradiated with light from a high pressure mercury lamp as a light source to deposit a cyano-iron-complex assuming prussian blue on the surfaces of the particles. These particles are separated by filtration, washed and dried to produce a pigment assuming prussian blue.
