PURPOSE: To obtain a photographic emulsion comprising silver halide having high contrast and high sensitivity causing only slight degree of fog and providing particularly high sensitivity for green light by spectrally sensitizing a photographic emulsion comprising silver halide contg. specified kind and content of halogen with a specified amt. of J-band sensitizing type sensitizing dye.
CONSTITUTION: A photographic emulsion comprising silver halide consisting of ca.0.005Wca.0.2mol% AgI, ca.0.1Wca.9mol% AgBr, and residual mol% AgCl is sensitized spectrally with ca.3.0×10-4Wca.1.0×10-3mol J-band sensitizing type sensitizing dye per 1mol said silver halide. Any sensitizing dye having J- band in ca.530nmWca.590nm and exhibiting J-band sensitizing effect are all used effectively. For example, among J-band sensitizing type sensitizing dyes expressed by the formula, those exhibiting J-band among the photographic emulsions comprising silver halide are adopted.
