PURPOSE: To prevent the discoloration of photographic paper and the occurrence of stains in the white frame part of the paper obtd. by coating both sides of base paper with polyolefin resin due to the absorption of a developer from the cut edges of the photographic paper by adding a specified neutral sizing agent and an org. fluorine compound to the base paper.
CONSTITUTION: Paper is made contg. one or more kinds of neutral sizing agents selected from higher org. ketene dimers, substituted cyclic dicarboxylic acid anhydrides and cationic substances prepared by the reaction of aliphatic carboxylic acids and polyamines and an org. fluorine compound by 0.01W0.09wt%, preferably 0.03W0.07wt% as solid to the amount of pulp together with a paper reinforcing filler, a size fixer, etc. The paper is then super-calendered and coated with low density polyethylene. The resulting photographic paper has high adhesion to the polyethylene and prevents the formation of a colored matter due to the adsorption of a developer from the edges without exerting unfavorable influence such as fog on the photographic characteristics.
