Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new photoreactive polyester capable of performing optical recording utilizing a change in photoabsorption or a change in refractive index according to light or heat and to obtain an optical recording medium having high-density memory properties capable of carrying out optical recording of a large amount of data at a high speed, a slight loss caused by photoabsorption and a low noise level (S/N ratio), excellent in record holding properties after optical recording, suitable for hologram recording and further excellent in refractive index modulating and multiple recording properties by photoisomerization of the structure.
SOLUTION: This photoreactive polyester is characterized in that the polyester is represented by the following general formula (1) [W is an ether bond, a thioether bond, a substituted imino bond, a ketone bond, a sulfone bond or a sulfoxide bond; (1) is 2-18; and (n) is 5-500]. Furthermore, the optical recording medium comprises the photoreactive polyester.
