Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing a porphyrin complex having a transition metal in a high-valence condition as the central metal, to a corresponding low valence metal complex, and for example, for easily preparing a low- valence metalloporphyrin complex having an oxygen coordination activity.
SOLUTION: This method comprises a step of photoreducing a high-valence metalloporphyrin complex to 7a corresponding low-valence metalloporphyrin complex by contacting it with a saccharide in a nitrogen atmosphere in an electrolyte aqueous solution, or by photoirradiation of the Legand to metal charge transfer (called LMCT) absorption band wavelength region.
