PURPOSE: To provide a photosensitive body for electrophotography which is excellent in the characteristics of repetition by providing a photosensitive layer containing a hydroxysteroid compound.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive layer containing at least an electric charge generating material and an electric charge transporting material on a conductive base. The photosensitive layer contains a hydroxysteroid compound. In this case, the hydroxysteroid compound is small in interaction with other photosensitive materials such as electric charge generating material and electric charge transporting material and is a compound which does not affect bad influence upon the characteristics of electrophotography and has the function of deactivating a radical species produced in the photosensitive layer by external attacking materials such as light and ozone and excels in ability of preventing a trap from being generated. Thus, with the addition of a hydroxysteroid compound, the lowering quantity of surface potential after repetition of 10000 times is suppressed, and also the deterioration of sensitivity shown at the exposure quantity reduced by half is reduced, so that its durability can be improved.
