To provide a photosensitive lithographic printing plate material having very high sensitivity, high printing durability and good suitability to processing (under-developability), and and also to provide a method for making a lithographic printing plate using the same.

The photosensitive lithographic printing plate material has a photosensitive layer containing at least (A) an alkali-soluble resin, (B) a compound having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, and (C) a radical initiator and an overcoat layer in this order on a hydrophilic support, and the photosensitive lithographic printing plate material is sequentially passed through at least (1) an image exposure step, (2) a heat treating step (preheating) and (3) a developing step, thereby obtaining a lithographic printing plate. The ratio [B/A] between the component B and the component A is in a range of 1.5-3.0, the alkali-soluble resin has a glass transition temperature (Tg) which is higher than the preheating temperature by ≥10°C, and the alkali-soluble resin has a radically reactive group.
