Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A phthalimide derivative shown by the formula I [R is H, or alkyl; ring A of broken line is group shown by the formula IVWVI; R1, R2, R4 and R5 are H, alkyl, or R1 and R2 or R4 and R5 are bonded to form a part of a ring of 3W5C alkylene; R4 is alkylcarbonyl, or alkoxycarbonyl].

EXAMPLE: A compound shown by the formula VII.

USE: A tranquilizer acting on central nervous system.

PREPARATION: A phthalimide shown by the formula II and an indole derivative shown by the formula III (R6 and R7 are H, alkyl, or R6 and R7 are linked to form a part of a ring of 3W5C alkylene) are subjected to a photo reaction in a solvent under irradiation of high-pressure mercury vapor lamp, etc. for about 0.5W10hr, to give a compound shown by the formula I .
