Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a pickup chassis for an optical disk having excellent dimensional stability and high rigidity by compounding a thermoplastic resin and a filler essentially comprising mica of a specified shape in specified proportion.
CONSTITUTION: This pickup chassis for an optical disk consists of a resin compsn. containing 70-30wt.% thermoplastic resin and 30-70wt.% filler. The filler contains ≥60wt.% mica having 10-100μm average particle size and 0.01-1μm thickness. The average particle size of the mica is measured by microtracking laser diffraction method and the thickness is measured by electron microscopy. The mica is preferably produced by a wet pulverization method by coarsely pulverizing the source material in a dry state, adding water to prepare a slurry, then pulverizing in a wet state in a pulverizing machine, dehydrating, and drying. The filler contains ≥60wt.% mica, and a fibrous filler, short fiber filler, plate-type filler or spherical filler may be added as far as the proportion of these fillers is ≤40wt.%.
