PURPOSE: To enable transmission even when an opposite fax number is not remembered by taking out the other party number from a destination name by an equipment and automatically performing the transmission when an user inputs the destination name in voice.

CONSTITUTION: When the user sets an original at an opposite facsimile (FX) picture reading part and the facsimile equipment is not in an off-hook state, the inputted opposite party FAX number is received and a telegraphic message is transmitted. When the FAX equipment is in the off-hook state, a main control part 22 instructs a control part 24 to input the voice guidance changeover switch of an operation part. The control part 24 draws guidance voice data from a storage part 25 to be transferred to a conversion part 23 and the conversion part 23 transmits the voice through an input/output part 20 to the user. When the user turns on the changeover switch, the control part 22 transmits the voice guidance data from the storage part 25 to the user. When the user inputs the destination name to the input/output part 20 in the voice and the destination name coincides with the voice data registered in the storage part 26 the other party is dialed and the telegraphic message is transmitted.
