PURPOSE: To provide a picture compositing and display device which composites the picture of an actually existing object with the picture expressing a virtual object to display them so that the former looks natural.

CONSTITUTION: A display means 101 arranged just before user's eyes, a photographing means 103 which photographs the range of an actual space corresponding to the visual field presented to the user by the display means 101, and an extracting means 104 which extracts the picture indicating a designated object from the picture obtained by the photographing means 103 in accordance with input of extraction indication are provided. Further, a compositing means 105 is provided which exclusively inserts the picture of the object extracted by the extracting means 104 into a simulation picture expressing a virtual space in accordance with input of this simulation picture and sends an obtained composite picture to the display means 101.
