Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable high compressibility without lowering body feeling picture quality and to reduce transmission loads by performing a data compression processing so as to turn picture data near the line of the sight of an observer to low compressibility and turn a peripheral visual field to the high compressibility based on line-of-sight data.
CONSTITUTION: Line-of-sight detection signals S2 are detected by a line-of-sight detection camera 18 and supplied to a picture reproducing device 13. The line-of- sight data processor 13b of the device 13 performs a matrix processing to the signals S2, generates the line-of-sight data D2 and outputs them through a transmission cable 12 to the secondary compression device 11b of a picture server 11. The device 11b performs the data compression processing to the picture data or primary compression data D1 so as to turn the picture data of a center visual field to the low compressibility and to turn the peripheral visual field to the high compressibility based on the data D2. Thus, the transmission loads are reduced and picture information is transmitted to many terminals.
