Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality by applying electric contour compensation in a low frequency component to a video signal of each color being a serial signal and applying contour compensation by scanning speed modulation in a high frequency component to a time series signal being a parallel signal. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a 1st contour compensation means 18 applying contour compensation to a serial video signal by varying the waveform changing characteristic of a brightness change part at a low frequency component, a means 21 applying serial/parallel conversion to a serial video signal so as to correspond it to each picture display area, a 2nd contour compensation means 22-24 applying contour compensation to a parallel signal by forming a contour signal at a high frequency component and a means applying the parallel signal subject to contour compensation to a cathode of a picture display element. Then the electric contour compensation in a low frequency component is applied to a video signal of each color being a serial signal and the contour compensation by the scanning speed modulation in a high frequency component is applied to a time series signal being a parallel signal. Thus, the sharp picture display without uneven brightness and deterioration in brightness is attained.
