PURPOSE: To easily designate a color depending on a color sample by inputting a color sample number to an area designated on an original and using a scanner so as to read the color sample sheet.

CONSTITUTION: A shape, a coordinate and a color sample number of a designated area on an original from an editer pad 3 are formed by an image processor 14 into an area storage memory 13. When a picture edition numeral is set to a color sample read mode, a color corresponding to the color number of a sample sheet having at least ≥1 of color samples inputted by a color image scanner 2 is identified by a CPU 7 and stored in a color sample storage memory 9 for each color number. Then the color in the area of the color sample number stored in the memory 13 by the color of the color sample number stored in the memory 9 is converted and stored in an editing picture storage memory. Thus, the color sample is easily and quickly inputted and the color is easily edited.
