PURPOSE: To improve the luminous quantity transfer efficiency and to reduce number of components and assembly man-hours.
CONSTITUTION: A tilt face of nearly 45° is provided to a glass-made main body housing 15 and the inside of the tilt face is formed to be a 1st reflecting face 16 or a 2nd reflecting face 17 by vapor-depositing aluminum or the like to the tilt face from the outer side, then the reflecting face with a high reflectance is simply obtained. Or the 1st reflecting face 16 and the end reflecting face 17 are provided to the tilt face of the main body housing 15 to integrate the main body housing 15 and the reflecting face and the read glass plate 21 is used in common for the glass base, and the photoelectric conversion element 22 and the LED 23 are mounted to the lower face. Furthermore, since a rod lens array 26 whose mount position is able to adjust and whose optical axis is arranged in parallel with the read face is provided between the 1st reflecting face 16 and the 2nd reflecting face 17 of the main body housing 15, number of components and assembly man-hours are reduced, while the picture reader is made small, the depth of the picture reader with a deep focus is made very thin with simple components.
