PURPOSE: To easily manufacture a variation recorder by simply connecting a picture print means with a different speed or function to a common picture input means and a picture storage means.

CONSTITUTION: The picture recorder is featured to be provided with a picture input means 1 reading picture information G and outputting it as a multi- gradation picture data DT, a simulating gradation generating means 2 reducing the gradation number of the picture data DT from the picture input means 1 and applying simulating gradation processing to simulate the gradation of the picture information G to the picture data DT group, a picture storage means 3 storing tentatively a simulated gradation picture data DT' generated by the simulating gradation generating means 2 and a picture print means 4 printing out the data based on the simulating gradation picture data DT' from the picture storage means 3 and in which the simulating gradation generating means 2 is mounted to the picture print means 4.
