PURPOSE: To ensure the high quality recording with reduced jitter, by actuating a solid-state image pickup device based on the synchronizing signal which is previously recorded on a magnetic disk.

CONSTITUTION: An optical image formed on a solid-state image pickup element 2 through a lens system 1 undergoes a photoelectric conversion and is supplied to a magnetic disk 8 via a picture processing circuit 4, a magnetic head driving circuit 5 and a switch 14. The disk 8 is turning by a driving source 9 with approximately a certain angular speed. The transfer clock 11 of the element 2 which is previously recorded is read out by a reproducing head and then applied to the element 2 via a solid-state image pickup driving circuit 3. Here the switcu 14 is turned on only while the picture signal is recorded and then turned off when no picture signal is recorded. Thus no picture signal 13 is applied to a recording head 6.
