Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain pile cloth useful for interior automative trim, etc., slightly causing falling habit of pile, having soft handle by forming a napped part from yarn of flat section having a specific degree of flatness and distortion around a fiber axis.

CONSTITUTION: A napped fiber part is made of yarn of flat section which comprises conjugate yarn composed of two polymer components having different thermally shrinking performances [(A) a central part having highly thermally shrinking properties and consisting of a polyethylene terephthalate copolymerized with isophthalic acid and/or 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate and (B) both end parts having thermally shrinking properties lower than the component A and consisting of polyethylene terephthalate] and has 2.0-6.0 degree of flatness and 50-300 twists/inch made around a fiber axis made by treatment with steam at 130°C for 1 minute to give the objective pile cloth.
