To provide an apparatus capable of keeping tension of a pile warp to a desired value even under high speed operation of a pile loom in a pile warp tension controller of the pile loom.
The pile warp tension controller 40 controls biasing force of a tension roll 6 synchronously with the relative motion between a reed 28 and woven cloth 7 which is carried out in accordance with pile formation. The controller 40 controls biasing force to the tension roll 6 so as to apply tension lower than applied tension during a period other than the period when the relative motion is performed at a prescribed period at the prescribed period to include a beating time within a period when the relative motion is performed for pile formation, and the tension roll 6 is elastically deformable in the range of winding of the pile warp 2.
