Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a large scale and stable artificial ground which is supported and constructed at a high elevation offshore or the like by means of a support pile to make effective use of a space.
CONSTITUTION: This invention relates to an artificial ground 1 which allows a ground to be supported on a high elevation with combined piles A and B which are formed by combining two diagonal piles 3. The two diagonal piles 3 which constitute the combined piles A and B are laid out in such a fashion that their pile heads may be placed in contact with each other at a similar angle and formed linearly in the shape of reversed V when viewed from a plane while each of the combined piles A and B lays out the diagonal piles 3 in such a fashion that they may be slanted by a specified angle with their procession crosswise. The relation between the combined piles A and B in their adjacent processions are designed so that they may be laid out at 180° symmetrically to each other. This construction makes it possible to resist against horizontal loads, such as seismic force to a satisfactory extent, thereby contributing to the construction of a high reliable artificial ground. A bending moment of the combined piles is arranged to be reduced.
