PURPOSE: To obtain artificial turf like natural turf by a method in which the axial core of piles composed of plastic monofilament tape yarns of a specified apparent count are bent and the bends and outside twists are hot-set.

CONSTITUTION: The piles 26 of artificial turf 21 consist of the piles 23 of plastic monofilament tape yarns 22 having an apparent count of 200-1000 denier. The pile 23 has an apparent count of 3000-30000 denier. The axial core 24 of the pile is bent at an interval of 12-100μm, with K=T/D of 0.003-0.03, where T is twist number per length (1m) of the core 24 and D is the apparent count of whole pile 23. The bends P and outside twists are hot-set, the pile 26 is cut to open the tips of the piles, and the piles are inclined randomly to obtain an artificial turf like natural turf.
