To provide a pipe exhaust device and establish a controlling method for the device, whereby it is possible to suppress deflection of a copper pipe in the horizontal direction by sensing certainly the position of each copper pipe exhausted from a basket.
A basket 3 accommodating a copper pipe 5 is placed on a payoff table 2, and a pair of guide rolls 4 to guide the copper pipe 5 exhausted and suppress its deflection in the plumb direction are installed between the basket 3 and the device as next stage of processing. The guide rolls 4 are positioned parallel in the plumb direction in such a way that their rotary shafts perpendicularly intersect the copper pipe exhausting direction. Beside the guide rolls 4, an ultrasonic sensor 1 is installed to transmit ultrasonic waves toward the copper pipe 5 passing through the guide rolls 4 and receive the waves reflected by the copper pipe 5. In case the copper pipe 5 is positioned intersect the specified region partially, the rotating speed of the payoff table is sunk, and in case moved to the inside, the speed is raised.
