To provide a pipe socket capable of heating a molten material of glass efficiently without damaging the quality of the glass in regard to the purity.
The pipe socket has a supporting core 1 composed of a high temperature resistant material and a case 2 surrounding the whole supporting core 1 and composed of a conductive material. The case 2 is provided with an inside sheath 2.1 in contact with the glass molten material at the time of operating and an outside sheath 2.2, each of the 2 sheaths 2.1 and 2.2 is connected to each other to have gas tightness and conductivity at the one end part side of the supporting core 1 and is connected respectively to electrodes 3.1 and 3.2 at another end part side, diffusion preventing parts 4.3 and 4.4 to be electrically insulated are provided between the supporting core 1 and the case 2 and the space surrounded by the case 2 is constituted so as to be evacuated.
