To obtain the subject new derivative consisting of a specific piperazine derivative having amino group or a quaternary ammonium group, etc., and useful e.g. as a constituent component of a drug carrier composed of a closed acinus, etc., and capable of efficiently and safely introducing a gene or a drug into a cell or a diseased part.
This new piperazine derivative is expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are each NR3R4 (R3 is a 10-40C alkyl or an alkenyl; R4 is H, an alkyl or an alkenyl) or N+R5R6R7 (R5 is same as R3; R6 and R7 are each same as R4); (m) and (n) are each an integer of 1-10; the compound may be racemic or optically active compound when the compound contains asymmetric carbon in the molecule]. It is useful e.g. as a constituent component of a drug carrier capable of efficiently and safely introducing a genetic substance or a drug into a cell or a diseased part. The piperazine derivative can be produced by reacting a diamine derivative of formula II ((m) and (l) are each 1-10) with a ketone compound, reducing the product and reacting with an alkyl halide, etc.
